In my beginners classes I wish to ease the fear for beginners and opening up the ways to feel and explore your body and understand the principles and basic postures of yoga and how to practice them correctly and without harming.

YIN YOGA FOR EVERYONE

3 FREE SESSIONS + HOW TO PRACTICE YIN YOGA

A YIN YOGA session is something completely different than what we usually “know” as Yoga. Most Yoga practices are very “Yang”, very active and dynamic. YIN YOGA is (like in the Yin and Yang Symbol) the missing part that makes your practice (and your busy, active and stressful day) complete.

We stay in each postures for 3-5 minutes, surrendering to gravity only, finding stillness and a gradual opening and softening of the all connecting fascia. As our body surrenders, also our mind comes to stillness.

YIN yoga is a perfect meditation practice as we as we try to focus on our deep and conscious breath throughout the whole practice. We are so used to being active all the time, that a YIN class can be very challenging for our mind. We are just not used to NOT move or do anything else for 5 long minutes. But after some practice you will LOVE IT!

Hi there, I am Pia, a Yoga Alliance certified yoga teacher, architect, thai masseuse, world traveler, adventuress, and lover of life. Born in Germany I am living to travel the world and share my loving kindness to all beings. My new passion is the ancient healing art of Thai Yoga Massage, a  massage that heals you on all levels through  a special quality of touch.

As a yoga and thai masseuse nomad I am not based in one city, teaching in a studio. You can find me teaching on different retreat centers in Spain and Sri Lanka where I am also carefully preparing my OWN RETREATS. I love to teach classes for experienced yogis, but what I love even more is introducing new people to the world of yoga in an accommodating and non-judgmental way so you will feel completely at ease even if you can´t even sit straight.

What really MOVES me is PEACE and living a meaningful life! This is why I am dedicating my life to helping others in need and trying to make the world a better place. In yoga, I found a new approach: not fighting the symptoms but starting at the very roots in creating awareness and compassion in all my students to support insights and personal growth. Only after finding your inner peace and allowing yourself to act from your heart you will be able to share peace. But I was not always a yoga teacher…

LOKAH

LOKAH means WORLD. Lokah means to ME: compassion, empathy and responsibility.

There is a whole parallel world existing beyond our first world society (with all our privileges to enjoy the many ways of yoga including relaxing and inspiring retreats) which we often oversee and exclude from our life. All my life I was torn between these two poles: the spirit to “live & love my life to the fullest” (live in the moment) and the urging desire to help those who can barely survive from one day to another.

Living along the guidelines of yoga,  we all can contribute to a better world with more love, solidarity and peace.

Until now, I don’t have many resources to financially support all the good projects I know. But I have a vision and I move with intention although I don`t know yet where this will take me…

YOGA means UNION. Yoga brings out the best in all of us. It is a scenic path that winds through all facets of life.

Take just a few minutes and spend it with yoga. The rest of the day will be better.

Yoga can be practiced as a sport, helping you to gain strength and create flexibility and more balance. Yoga can help you out of physical suffering, but there is so much more waiting for you once you start walking this path! In yoga  you start where you are, there is no judgment, every physical inflexibility is welcome. Most of us came to yoga through some kind of physical or mental suffering (stress), but the asanas (the postures, a yoga class) are only the door.

Once you open this door you will find behind it a wonderful world full of acceptance, compassion, gratitude, equanimity, peace, and joy. And most importantly… your Self..

My various RETREATS, YOGA CLASSES and WORKSHOPS are designed to do exactly this: open the world of yoga to you. Wherever you are right now. And make you feel perfect in all your imperfections. A real yogi is never stuck…

  1. Pia is a very tentative and trusted yoga teacher. I found her class invigorating and rejuvenating. I had a private Ashtanga yoga session with her and thoroughly enjoyed it. I really liked having a little breathing time in each posture we held, which allowed my body to connect fully with the experience and pumping fresh oxygen into my blood stream. Thank You Pia for the session 🙂

  2. It was such a pleasure meeting Pia in Sri Lanka. We practiced Yin yoga together over 3 days and I found Pia to be both generous and restorative in her teaching. Pia is inspirational in that she has already accomplished many things and is now combining travel with yoga teaching and chiro massage. I have no hesitation in recommending Pia whether it be in a group practice or one to one. Thank you Pia for making our stay so special and for guiding us through our Yin practice. We thoroughly enjoyed it and hope our paths cross again.

  3. Pia’s yoga extends well beyond the mat. From the first moment I met her and, it was an easy, effortless, stimulating and loving interaction. While I only had one Vinyasa Yoga class with her – which I felt was an incredibly inclusive and positive experience – I had the opportunity to help in the creation of the Yoga River for a couple of days. Although I wasn’t there as a Yogi and had never met either Pia or Andrés before, I was taken in as a friend right from the start.

    Besides the people, the Yoga River itself brought me a peace I didn’t know I needed. This spacious, open and picturesque place allowed for reflection and meditation, as it did for movement and action with and without the others around me (from the hosts and guests, to the house, flora and fauna present).

    Overall, I truly recommend the Yoga River for anybody that is looking for an unconventional Yoga retreat. The communal, family-like vibe to it is like no other. It is a cosy, small-scale, authentic experience – one that now-a-days is hard to find.

  4. Increible experiencia en yoga river. Estuvimos 3 días rodeadas de naturaleza y personas maravillosas. Pia y Andres se portaron muy bien con nosotras, no nos faltó de nada!
    Creo que esta experiencia se tiene que vivir por lo menos una vez en la vida, no solo por el cambio de energía interior, si no por ser más consciente de lo que realmente importa y que lo mejor está dentro de nosotros. Nos divertimos, compartimos, nos emocionamos, nos inspiramos y hasta descubrimos algún que otro talento que teníamos escondido!

    Siempre los llevaré en mi corazón!

  5. Yoga River was an absolute stunning experience. The location was full of bliss. Nature, silence and the best food and hosts. Felt so grounded and at ease. Yoga River is a unique place, a little treasure in Spain.

    Pia is a fabulous yoga teacher and woman. Giving a variety of styles and techniques to suit individuals. Was brilliant learning yoga from her.

  6. Yoga River is a truly unique place. Hidden amongst the lush nature of Cantabria, I was able to wind down at this place like I have not been able to for a long time. Pia and Andres are two of the kindest, inspiring and fun-to-be-around company one could ask for! The location of the yoga retreat close to the beach, picturesque Spanish towns and beautiful nature allows for a diverse experience besides Pia´s yoga classes and amazing massages. I am very thankful for my time spent at Yoga River and will definitely be back!

  8. Pia make yourself feel very comfortable with her sensitivity. And she works with her hands in a perfect way to achieve that you feel relax and enjoy this experience.

    It is my first Thai massage and i’ve lived it like an experience for the body, soul and senses.

  9. Conocer a Pía ha sido una bendición en forma de suave, ténue y cálida lluvia, que armoniza el cuerpo. Su presencia trae la calma y la energía necesarias. Encuentras su sonrisa aunque no la busques, lees de sus ojos el amor y la devoción al entregarlo. Enseña yoga con tanto mimo como un cuidador cercano. ES hermoso caminar hacia la práctica tras despertarse en las mañanas y encontrarse con su hermosa sonrisa y la paz que desprende, entonces tienes claro que el día comienza bien, que VAS A TENER EL MEJOR DÍA DEL RESTO DE TU VIDA. Hablar de sus masajes es demasiado fácil, a quién no le gusta un buen masaje, pero atentos: Su masaje puede darte alas con el consecuente peligro que esto acarrea: ” de pronto puedes volar” …

    Thank you for a fantastic week with you and the rest of the Yoga Retreat in Alpujarra.
    As a first timer with yoga I was very excited how this would be. Will it be a success?
    Sitting home in Denmark 🇩🇰 pressing the bottom to be a part of a Yoga Retreat in wonderfully Alpujarra. I knew that Alpujarra was my favorite mountains in 🇪🇸
    But is a 71 year old yoga rookie able to have a successful week?
    My expectations were though clear:
    – a social week with nice people
    – More flexibility
    – Control over my breath
    – More strength and change/rebuild my muscles to long muscles.
    Showing up at the Retreat with a good faith of a wonderful week. I had my doubts though we were only three participants. Will this be cancelled. But thanks to the team for not cancelling😘
    We were welcomed by two instructors and a Chef.
    I was in good hands here I thought.
    AND I was.
    The two instructors had different skills and they complemented each other very well.
    Here I will only stress that Pia had a very excellent ability and understanding to see my strengths and weaknesses and correct in a direction and speed so I was constantly growing in my yoga development.

    What can I say about my success criterials:
    – Socially. Fantastic week, which I am ready to repeat ASAP. Not to forget Chanting. Especially sitting on rooftop playing and 🎶 singing the sun going down on the Montains of Alpujarra
    – The three other. My best rating is an increase of 30-40%. Not bad for a grand old man. Anyway I am delighted😘💪🏿.

  13. Ich hatte eine Massage und 3 private Yogaeinheiten bei Pia in Andalusien und es war himmlich! 😉 Ich habe mich von Beginn an mit ihr und in ihrem Haus sehr wohl und aufgehoben gefühlt. Pia ist eine unglaublich angenehme Person, die es versteht professionell und feinfühlig auf ihre Kunden einzugehen. In der Massage konnte ich mich sehr gut fallen lassen und genießen. In den Yogastunden bewies sie viel Geduld und ein weites fundiertes Wissen. Danke Pia für deine Zeit, deine Aufmerksamkeit, für das was du in die Welt hinaus trägst! Ich freue mich dich wiederzusehen! 😉
